NHTSA Launches Tesla Investigation

Vehicles sold from 2014 on under review.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation, announced it has launched an investigation into Tesla Motors. The probe comes after a series of 11 crashes with parked emergency vehicles came about by the company’s proto driverless technology, resulting in seventeen injuries and one death.

The investigation involved the entire Tesla lineup of Models S, 3, X, and Y years 2014 through 2021. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recently recommended changes to Tesla’s use of the semi-automatic pilot function. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy called the day’s action by the NHTSA “a positive step forward for safety.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the safety officials in the Transportation Department as they evaluate driverless technology.
  • That the NHTSA review would result in safer vehicles and fewer crashes.
  • For NTSB Chair Homendy as she provides guidance to the federal agency.
